Private Time Reflections

 Afterwards!

With the family thanksgiving celebration harvested
I just sat there absorbing the warm enticing glow.
Huge pine trunks muscled onto the burn pile mirroring memories.
The golf cart also resting in deep thought
obviously pondering it’s very recent popularity.
My mind became entirely consumed
Counting blessings!

The men had taken charge of furnishing the meal
Early votes weren’t powerful enough to define majority
So we went to table loaded with KFC, Sub Sandwiches and Pizza
Complimented by soda pop, tater chips, rice crispy bars, etc.
Which were enjoyed by each and every soul including a very welcomed
exchange student from Germany.
Soon everyone here was eating somewhere surrounded by nature, warmed by the sun!

Suddenly I returned to now and realized the magic in the burn pile
Will blossom fine without me watching.
So I coaxed the golf cart to join me while getting the mail.
Going was fine but, coming back became an extreme challenge!
With it’s very last breath, the golf cart physically forced itself forward to the charger.
Then I inched my way up into the tree house to retrieve a KFC bone, a paper plate,
the elevator rope fastened to the lift bucket, which was half full of pinecones still smiling!

I came in the house, turned the computer on and,
I’m almost positive the home page boldly announced Giggle
Before it quickly turned to Google
Little fingers had been constantly stretching
It’s imagination and challenging it to compete in creativity.
I was secretly hoping the computer and I could reminisce a bit but,
Suddenly, I noticed the computer had gone to sleep!

Meanwhile, I'll keep coaxing my treadmill powered scooter uphill!

 Nematode Chooses Kansas

Some of you may have heard about our not so friendly guests who settled into our tree houses, our lovely Scots Pine! To date I know of no treatment for these little buggers. When they enter the tree they clog it's life flowing juices and the tree very quickly dies. Those in the know predict that in a very short period of time there will be no Scots Pine trees growing in Kansas. We have just recently cut and burned (15) 40 to 45 year old Pines. That brings the total to well over 40 so far with many left to die. Our labor went full circle from planting every single tree to cutting down and burning. It's a bit tough to swallow, now our unique country home looks like a fresh haircut.

 Just Call Me Scabby!

I guess I can thank my lucky star that I'm not Humpty Dumpty. I was cutting up dead Sctotch Pine trees and burning them when suddenly a little "Smart Aleck: branch jumped right out in front of my right foot and stopped it short. The rest of me had forward momentum and wasn't prepared to stop short. So I ended up horizontal, parallel with then SMACK, a diect conmtact, with my nose below see-level! Suddenly, I realized that I had gotten cozily friendly with Mother Earth. We did a quick nose to nose skin exchange before I came to my senses and determined that this was niether the time or place for this kind of behavior. I quickly donated a little blood as a token of appreciation and continued with my cut & burn activity!

 Not to Worry!

Don't be too concerned if when you look into the distant future you see nothing but dots, you're just looking too far!
