Private Time Reflections
Monday July 2, 2007
I seem to get dizzy when I get busy, Makes me feel a little faint. Shouldn’t be climbing the ladder, I’ll close the bucket of paint.
If my “dizzy” keeps on growing And my belly starts to ache, Then I shouldn’t be a mowing, And I’ll hang up the hoe and the rake.
The jobs I skip will get behind But they will surely keep If I would just turn and follow my mind I’d go get a bit more sleep.
Dishes and dusting I’d rather not! Nor the spider’s web up on the ceiling Oh yes, I’ll come eat the food while it’s hot! It’s amazing how much better I’m feeling.

Sorry, we can’t do it, we’re out of time!” Yep, something was getting hot, it was my blood stream. At 10:30 Thursday morning we called our local Subway Sandwich Shop to give them an order for a 3 foot party classic sandwich for a Friday noon pickup. You see, our Kansas Grandchildren are coming this morning for a vacation day at Grandma & Grandpa’s house and we wanted to surprise them with a giant sub sandwich for lunch. The employees at Subway didn’t have a clue how to make one of those, they’ll call the manager and get back with us. Well, that getting back with us part never did materialize, so we kept calling them at different intervals. Finally, at 10:00 pm Thursday evening they committed to fill our order. At 10:30 Thursday night they did get back with us and uncommitted. They let us know that they couldn’t fill our order because they are out of time. They needed a 24 hr. notice for an order like that. Hello Subway, how many hrs are there between 10:30 am Thursday morning and Friday noon? I believe this will be a bit difficult to explain to the grandchildren when there’s nothing to eat at noon! I wonder if Subway employees would know how to go across the street, pick up some pizzas and deliver Pizza Hut pizzas to our house for lunch, wouldn’t that be only fair?

Quiz asked a disturbing question, thanks a lot for asking this normal question Quiz. I’m usually ready with a shallow homemade answer, but with some magnetic influence this question keeps on hammering long after the nail is driven. So I asked Quiz for permission to try to wring out the meaning of normal by pulling it through a blog. At certain points from here forward, I’m asking you to help please. 1 - You and I together should normally be able to wring out an acceptable meaning for “What is Normal Exactly” in the next few minutes. ----------- Agree / Disagree? 2 - To drive 60 MPH in a 55 MPH speed zone is normal? ----------- Agree / Disagree? 3 - To sleep until 9:00 or 9:30 in the morning is normal? ----------- Agree / Disagree? 4 - If you’ve been reminded to _________ but didn’t, that’s normal?----------- Agree / Disagree? 5 - Normal is the same thing as average. ----------- Agree / Disagree? 6 - I don’t know what normal is exactly, but to replace “Better Than The Best” with normal would not be normal.----------- Agree / Disagree? 7 - It seems normal not to grade this test. ----------- Agree / Disagree? 8 - We managed to pull normal all the way through the blog., but fell way short of the finish line. ----------- Agree / Disagree?

Hey look, my Get Well Card says, “Please return to normal soon!” “So, what’s wrong with that?” “What’s wrong with that is, I’m not sick!”

This past weekend we drove to Kansas City to visit our daughter. Together we went to experience “Jazz In The Woods” where we were to meet her friends ‘inside the trees.’ I was glad she was driving, because we must have circled the woods in multiple zigs with an occasional zag thrown in here and there, looking for that one single parking space in any of the many parking lots. Finally, we found it. We unloaded ourselves and “Gofer” the powered wheel chair and meandered down a winding sidewalk thru the woods, across the river over an arched bridge and on to the ‘inside of the trees.’ There must have been between two and three thousand people ‘inside the trees’ and we are going to connect with a family of five (friends) from somewhere within that mix. Our daughter said, “Wait here I‘ll go find them” and just that quickly she disappeared into the sea of strange faces. Within five minutes she was back, “I found them.” I was overwhelmed, “How in all the world did you find them in this huge crowd?” “I know what they look like!” We stayed ‘inside the trees’ until long after dark before we activated the tiny cell phone and were guided back to the van by it’s romantic, gentle glowing light. That tiny cell phone with it’s gentle pale blue glow just barely stretching the width of the arched bridge over the sound of deep running waters and dropping off the edges of the meandering sidewalk, seemed proud to reach out and fight off total darkness to be our guiding light. After we reloaded and returned safely, we had a snack! Memories are built by looking back and trying to identify how F U N was progressively being built somewhere within that mix inside the trees!
