 What’s In A Slant?

The last time we ate out, our waitress put her name card on our table.

It made me wonder, is their a message (a feeling) in the presentation style she chose?
“I believe I’m bringing the whole kitchen to your table!”
“Things are beginning to look up.”
“I’ll bend over backwards to help you.”
“Don’t forget to tip!”
“I’m organized!”
“Every one else is not doing this!”
“You can lean on me for good service!”
“I’ll be right back with refills!”
“Go ahead, I’m listening!”
“Just blow me over If you’re not completely satisfied.”
During the meal we learned that she was a new employee and a delightful waitress.
So, what do you think?

 Buying Online.

Yes, we're back home. We drove to Springfield MO in a one way rental on Thursday (300 miles in a Chevy Malibu) and left it there. We finished the trip home in our “Successful OnLine purchase” Honda Odyssey minivan Friday. Already, we like it! After we signed the papers at the Honda Dealership, my wife and I were going to drive both cars together for the ten miles to the Avis drop off at Springfield/Branson Airport. We lost each other before we drove four blocks. So, we'll meet after I drop our rental off. Right?
Right!
Luckily, I remembered to tell my wife that if we per chance do lose each other, she should go to parking lot A and I would come find her.
So, now I'm on foot and there’s a Silver Pearl Honda Odessey under the street lights, in parking lot A somewhere. I felt a smidgen of interesting anxiety bouncing off my shoes, attacking scads of "That could be her now" silver minivans as they approached.
But, we made the connection and now we're both home. Actually, it was a fun trip.

 Pretty Generous!

When I read a large banner hanging near the entrance of our local Dillon’s Grocery, it wrinkled my composer.
If you have a Dillon’s Grocer’s in you’re area, you’ll be familiar with the big to-do over the Dillon’s Plus Card. It is supposedly Dillon’s magical answer to competitive WalMart type discounts.
While shopping in Dillon’s retail stores, there are two prices posted for most grocery items. One claims to be Dillon’s regular price and the discounted one is the Plus Card carrier’s price. At the checkout you will be informed how much you saved this trip by being a Plus Card carrier. To me, pricing and discounts is all relative anyhow.
Oh yes, the banner boasting an added benefit.
“FUEL - Receive a 10 cent per gallon discount for every $100 dollars you spend.”
This is exactly when the wrinkles around the corners of my mouth did their pushups.
I wanted to ask, “Do I then have to spend another $100 dollars to get a 10 cent discount on my second gallon?”
So much for that. I will be away from my computer Thursday and Friday. No more blogs this week.
