Invisible Glow! (Written With a Smile!)

Have you ever seen the invisible glow? Actually, you can’t see it (Ha, Ha, it‘s invisible,) you have to listen for it. The best example I can think of for us trying to detect this invisible glow, is by listening for it on an answering machine. Most voice messages sound anemic and underdeveloped. But, on very rare occasions, one message bounces up that was installed with a smile. Suddenly, the invisible glow coming over the phone, becomes so penetrating, it startles the listener and promptly transfers (copies) the original smile.
That’s how easy this magical invisible glow is to come by! If we simply wrap our life up in a smile, our invisible glow will transfer our smile to everyone we meet! Lets set our goal to start an epidemic that will paste a smile on the faces of the larger percent of the folks we know and catch a smaller percent of those who are just curious!

Zip & Zap, Dealing With a Thought!

Zip: I think I’ve a thought!
Zap: Nope, I doubt there is space.
Zip: Yep! It’s the answer I’ve sought.
Zap: Then spit it out of your face!

Zip: It’s a big thought, I think!
Zap: Or is it confusion?
Zip: It could disappear in a blink.
Zap: Oh, it‘s just an illusion!

Zip: Oops, it’s gone yellow splat, splat!
Zap: Aw, you’re pulling my leg!
Zip: Nope! Humpty Dumpty fell where he sat, sat ------
Zap: You’re sure He was an egg?

Zap: Well, I’ll be fried!

 One Way!

The story is told of an early day wheat farmer who was hauling a load of wheat to town. He was driving a pickup and pulling a two wheeled trailer. He had just moved to the area, so this was all new to him. In town he got going down a one way and suddenly realized that he drove past his turn off. He was obviously contemplating making a “U” turn when an officer shouted at him, “Hey mister, you can’t make a “U” turn there!” Without hesitation the farmer replied, “I believe I can if I back up once!”
His thinking power was immediately down graded to match his dilemma, restricted to a “one way flow!” He allowed his mind to become trapped, thinking only about himself. He missed his turn and now had to figure out how to redeem himself. There was no consideration given for how his next move might affect anyone else coming along the same path.
Too often we allow life’s dilemmas to pop most of our think ports shut, limiting the flow to a one way trickle. Instead, that’s when we should open extra think ports and let our mind explore potential horizons!

 A Curiosity Awakened!

While having a picnic, the corner of my eye
Suddenly starts playing with this stupid old fly.
Jostling my pupil to the left, then to the right,
Following that crazy flies flight!

Where’s he going and where has he been?
Climbs out of the jelly jar, then goes right back in.
Then out again and into the air,
He circles the table and lands on a chair.

The corner of my eye, destined not to lose sight,
Of this drunken flies antics when he lifts into flight.
Sees him circle and loop, then do what I dread most,
Goes into a head long dive, right onto my toast!

With butter and jelly now on his feet,
He slides to the side, giving me more room to eat.
The corner of my eye did the job perfectly,
Awakening another anxiously waiting curiosity!

The end of my picnic is fast drawing nigh.
All because of this one lousy fly?
I’m trying to figure what I hated the most,
My wandering eye, or sharing my toast?

What Size is a Tiny Pebble?

I can still experience this as if it happened an hour ago! I was taking our toddler daughter for a walk on the sidewalk. She was barefoot , pulling a little red wagon behind her. Her short little legs determinedly set the pace for us, while her toes dusted off the top of the concrete. As near as I could tell, her goal was to continue to move ahead.
Then it happened, a major delay! The middle of her little bare foot came down directly on top of a tiny pebble! Without question or hesitation, after she awkwardly regained her balance, she lined herself up squarely with that tiny pebble, squatted down until her little bottom was scarcely an inch above the walk, picked up the pebble and heaved it sidearm a whopping fourteen inches out of her path. Then we were ready to move on. This major delay became just a minor, temporary thing in her mind.
Why do I think this incident is so powerful? When we bump into a major delay, too often we’re tempted to water it and nurture it to see if we can’t make it grow. Why if it’s handled properly, it might develop into a marvelous excuse! By taking this approach, we’ve trained our mind to be happy with excuses instead of squatting down, squaring up to the problems and side arming them just far enough out of our way to move ahead to the desired result. Nobody is interested in a list of excuses, but results will keep moving us forward!
